Our 18 Participating Guilds are the driving force behind Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival! This year, they are exhibiting over 400 quilts made by members. The public has an opportunity to vote for their choice in several categories, and ribbons were awarded last night.
The category of overall “Viewers Choice” has 3 winners — Congratulations to them all!
“Viewers Choice 1st Place” goes to Kay Mueller of Lawrence, Kansas for her quilt “Cross Kansas Trip 2016” — design is from Simply Dynamic Sampler Quilts by Marianne Hatton. This quilt also received 1st place in the “I Did It All” category.
“Viewers Choice” 2nd Place was awarded to Sandy Meyer of Peculiar, Missouri for “Hazel’s Diary”. The pattern is by Kansas City Star and Shelley Pagliai.
“Viewers Choice 3rd Place” went to Diann White of Belton, Missouri, for her “Can I Have Your Scraps, Please?” using her ever-growing collection of scraps.
We’ll share more ribbon winners with you next week!
While you’re in town for Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival 2019 – stop in and visit Harper’s Fabric & Quilt Co. They’re located a short distance from the Overland Park Convention Center in downtown Overland Park, Kansas.
We are grateful to Harper’s for their support of KCRQF as a Silver Sponsor and for furnishing Husqvarna Viking and Pfaff sewing machines for our classroom!
Harper’s Owner Elaine Johnson and KCRQF Instructor Mary Honas
Harper’s was established in 1969 by Dean Harper in Prairie Village, Kansas. Mr. Harper had five stores in his fashion fabric career. Elaine Johnson bought the first and last Harper’s Fabrics in 1994 when Mr. Harper retired.
Harper’s is promoting Youth classes all summer! If you are a quilter who is interested in preserving the art, they invite you to check out their class schedule for your son, daughter or grandchild. All levels from age 8 up are welcome. Come join the fun with 100 classes every quarter! Find the class the fits your interest on their website Here.
Harper’s is excited to be participating in KCRQF 2019! They look forward to seeing their friends — new and from in the past. Please stop by their booth #707 and say “Hi!” — they are passionate about sewing!
It’s only a week away, but great seats are still available for An Evening with Ricky Tims!
