Entry Categories

Large Quilts

Large quilts are defined as having no side less than 60” and no side that is greater than 96” (even if hung horizontally).

  • L1000 – Hand quilted:  Any technique or style.
  • L2000 – Machine quilted:  Pieced.
  • L3000 – Machine quilted:  Appliquéd or appliquéd with piecing where appliqué is
    the primary design element.
  • L4000 – Machine quilted:  Art/Innovative/Pictorial – portrait, landscape or art piece
    which is likely to have creative use of embellishments.
  • L5000 – Machine quilted:  Other techniques (such as embroidery) or a combination of techniques or styles not covered in other categories.

Small/Wall Quilts

Small or Wall quilts are defined as having no side less than 24” and no side that is greater than 60”. 

  • S1000 – Hand quilted:  Any technique or style.
  • S2000 – Machine quilted:  Pieced.
  • S3000 – Machine quilted:  Appliquéd or appliquéd with piecing where appliqué is
    the primary design element.
  • S4000 – Machine quilted:  Art/Innovative/Pictorial – portrait, landscape or art piece
    which is likely to have creative use of embellishments.
  • S5000– Machine quilted:  Other techniques (such as embroidery) or a combination
    of techniques or styles not covered in other categories.

Any Size

May be large or small, but no side less than 24” and no sider greater than 96” (even if hung horizontally).

  • A6000 – Non-quilted:  coverlet styles that are generally considered quilts including but not limited to Crazy Quilts, Cathedral Windows, & Yo-Yos.  It is acceptable that
    layers are tacked or tied.
