Meet the guild
The Quilters Guild of Greater Kansas City was established in 1975 and was the first guild in the area.
The QGGKC meets the second Tuesday of each month at 9:45 a.m. (social hour at 9:00 a.m.) at the First Lutheran Church located at 6400 State Line Road (63rd and State Line) in Mission Hills, Kansas.
The QGGKC has 154 members who come from both Missouri and Kansas, from all five counties in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
In addition to monthly programs, the guild has a wonderful library for members, workshops, two annual retreats, a quilt show every other year, collects diapers for Happy Bottoms and makes quilts for charity.
One of the activities most looked forward to each year is the Guild Retreat. It is the perfect place to meet new friends and strengthen existing friendships. Ideas are shared along with the opportunity to start or complete that project you just don’t have time for.
Our Activities Chair provides us with new ideas and inspiration. The step-by-step directions make it easy to put those ideas into an actual quilt.
Our library is always busy as we look for books on “how-to” or patterns to use for our next project (or UFO!).
The most fun of all is sharing our love of quilting with other quilters. The hour before the meeting and again during the break are filled with lively voices as we greet old friends and make new ones.
