Meet the guild
Starlight Quilters Guild was established in 1980 and currently has about
140 members. We meet at the Countryside Christian Church which is
located at 6101 Nall Avenue in northern Johnson County. Our social time
before the meeting offers our members the opportunity to check out library
books for free, sign up for retreats and workshops, learn new techniques
occasionally, visit our share table, and grab a snack.

Starlight is active in its community efforts. We made and donated over 500
quilts for Project Linus last year and many of our members contribute to the
Quilts of Valor program. Each year we choose at least one community
project such as making pillowcases for the One Million Pillowcase
challenge (over 500 last year) and making placemats and wall hangings for
Meals on Wheels. We also donate money once yearly to a worthy non-for-
profit organization.

We welcome new members and allow visitors to attend two meetings
before we ask them to join us. All levels of quilters are represented and we
present a Schoolhouse and workshops yearly to improve everyone’s skills.
We have a monthly newsletter that includes information about the
upcoming speaker, as well as news from each committee. Our library is
extensive with quilting books, quilting DVDs and novels about quilting that
can be checked out each meeting. This year we are trying to focus on
completing UFOs that have been sitting in all our closets. We end each
meeting with a Show and Tell that serves to inspire us all to complete
things for the next meeting. We hope you visit us soon.
