KCRQF 2019 – Classes with Bernina Ambassadors!

Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival 2019 is extremely grateful to our Platinum Sponsor Windmill Sewing Center, our local Bernina dealer.  In addition to their continuing support as a sponsor and donation of prizes, they are providing machines in both our Bernina and Brother classrooms.  During the Festival, you will be able to experience these incredible sewing machines in two ways — on the Exhibit Hall floor and in the classroom.  Learn more about Windmill Sewing Center on their website.

We are pleased to have two Bernina Ambassadors as instructors for KCRQF 2019!

Kelly Ashton has openings in her two classes – “Painted Mountains” and “Waterwheel” Table Topper.

Kelly Ashton

As a self-described “pragmatic quilt-maker”, Kelly Ashton approaches quilt design and construction with a knowledge of and appreciation for the theoretical while searching for and developing skills and short-cuts that are practical.  Kelly is also one of our loyal vendors, with her company kellyquilter.com.

KCRQF 2019 – Ruby Sponsor Kellyquilter Designs

We appreciate the support of our sponsors — and know you will appreciate shopping with them at Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival 2019!

Kellyquilter Designs is Kelly Ashton — author, designer and teacher.  Her booth will be filled with ideas and inspiration for making your quilt making easier!

As a self-described “pragmatic quilt maker”, Kelly approaches quilt design and construction with a knowledge of and an appreciation for the theoretical and a penchant for the practical. Her mid-life realization that she truly may not live long enough to use all of her fabric stash has propelled her into “turbo quilt making mode”! Kelly’s quilt designs range from “quick and easy” to “challenging”, thereby providing offerings to quilt makers with a wide range of skills and experience. Many of her designs are “pre-cut friendly”.

Kelly is also offering two workshops — “Painted Mountains” on Wednesday, June 12 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and “Waterwheel” on Friday, June 14 from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.  See descriptions of both of these classes here:  https://kcrqf.com/festival-info/instructors/kelly-ashton-2/

Kelly Ashton — KCRQF 2019 Instructor!

A local treasure — Kelly Ashton!  Kelly describes herself as a “pragmatic” quilter.  Her current obsession is designing and piecing blocks and quilts that require set-in seams (Y-seams) pieced by machine.  This resulted in the authoring of her book Hexagons, Diamonds, Triangles and More.

In addition to quilty things, Kelly owns and operates The Creative Place, a retreat for quilters and other artists in Spring Hill, Kansas.

Watch for more information soon on the classes Kelly will be offering at KCRQF 2019.  Find out more about Kelly on her website, and follow her on Facebook.
