KCRQF 2019 – Guild Showcase Quilts

We know you love to see quilts!  While we won’t be able to share all the quilts from Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival 2019 with you, we’ll spend some time on Guild Showcase quilts.  Follow along for inspiration!

Original Design – Large

1st Place – “Crocheting on Silk” by Jan McCreary — Kaw Valley Quilters Guild – quilted by Jan Hutchison
Quilt Story:  “The doilies were crocheted by my grandmother 80 to 100 years ago.  I just wanted to display her beautiful work.”

2nd Place — “Where’s Tula?” — Made by Joyce Colton of Kaw Valley Quilters Guild, quilted by Lori Kukuk

Original applique design with Tula Pink’s blocks
Quilt Story:  “I always wanted to do an applique quilt using a pieced background.  I chose designs from Tula Pink’s ‘100 Modern Quilt Blocks’ in sets of 3 to use for the background.  Some are mirror imaged.  The applique designs are my own.”

3rd Place — “Serenity Garden” by Geri Harlow – Miami County Quilters Guild – Quilted by Beth Dawson
Quilt Story: “I love dresden plates.  They look like flowers.  So I decided to put them in a garden with birds and butterflies.  This is in honor of my sister, Charlotte.”
