KCRQF 2019 – More Guild Quilts!

These were the top three quilts chosen in the “Original Design – Small” category at Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival 2019.

1st Place — “Be The Light” by James R. Brown of Twillight Stitchers Quilt Guild
Quilt Story:  “The challenge theme: ‘In order for the light to shine so brightly, the darkness must first be present.’ (Francis Bacon)  The rising of the sun from the darkness on a regular basis, my inspiration for this quilt and the quilt name.”

2nd Place — “Border Wars” by Chris Jacobs – Kansas City Modern Quilt Guild
Quilt Story:  “A modern spin on two traditions: the time honored t-shirt quilt and the historic Missouri/Kansas border war.  Both quilts feature improv piecing of t-shirt graphics and honor the rich history of the KU and MU rivalry.  Love local.”

3rd Place — “First American Woman” by Marci Hainkel – Nitetime Needlers
Quilt Story:  “Each block is about the first American woman to do something.  The ladies are amazing.”
