Now Available –Trunk Shows and Master Classes with Ricky Tims!

Master Classes with Ricky Tims — Friday, June 14 — Lecture style, not hands-on workshops

Session 1 — 8:30 to 10:00 am — “Eleven Cool Things Every Quilter Should Know”

Be prepared for plenty of “Ah-ha” and “Duh, I wish I had known that before!” moments in this insanely popular Mini Master Class Lecture. Not only are there sewing tricks, but organizational and management tips for quilters are included as well. Mini-piped binding, birthing a quilt, and burying frayed tails are just a few of the many super-practical things covered. Don’t keep track as there are likely to be more than eleven cool things presented.

Session 2 — 10:30 am to 12:00 noon — “Stress Free and Fun Quilts”

Quilters know the basics of quarter-inch seams and getting things “just right”. However, in this Mini Master Class Lecture you will learn to let loose and break some of the rules without sacrificing quality of workmanship. Learn improvisational patchwork (aka Quilting Caveman Style). Learn Ricky’s addictive method for slicing and dicing called Convergence Quilts. And finally, enjoy Primitive Traditional Patchwork, a great project for all quilters, but also a great project to do with kids because you ‘can’t mess it up’. It’s like three classes in one.

Session 3 —  1:30 to 3:00 pm — “Rhapsody Quilts: The process to design your own original Rhapsody”

Learn the process to design your own original legacy-oriented and masterful Rhapsody quilt. Don’t be fooled! A Rhapsody quilt is easier than most traditional quilts. You will learn the easy design process followed by Ricky’s No-pins Precision Curved Piecing as well as his prize-winning Outline Appliqué, using the beautiful and forgiving double blanket stitch.

For more information, visit Ricky’s page on our website Here.  You can also check out his website, and follow him on Facebook.

To sign up for Ricky’s Master Classes and other Trunk Shows and Lectures (more information about them soon),  follow the link on the home page of the KCRQF website to begin your Festival experience. The trunk shows and lectures are listed by day below the Classes.

Guild Opportunity Quilts

One of the great things about attending the Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival is seeing all the opportunity quilts offered by our participating guilds.  You’ll have a chance to purchase a ticket (or more) from each guild to enter in their drawings.

Here are three you will see there:

Olathe Quilters Guild Opportunity Quilt  — features all KC Star newspaper blocks from the 1920’s – 1940’s that were redrawn.  The pattern is a guild original.

Starlight Quilters Guild Opportunity Quilt — Paper pieced in all batiks by the small group known as the Rowdy Rounders, and quilted by Peggy Skaith.

Blue Valley Quilters Guild Opportunity Quilt — This quilt is an original design constructed and pieced by Ibby Rollert, Sandi Magliacano and Lynn Droege.  It was quilted by Tia Curtis.  The quilt was entered in the 2017 Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival Showcase
Challenge using only the colors of the Festival.

Watch for these and other stunning quilts when you attend KCRQF 2019!
