KCRQF 2019 – Viewer’s Choice Award!

Our 18 Participating Guilds are the driving force behind Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival!  This year, they are exhibiting over 400 quilts made by members.  The public has an opportunity to vote for their choice in several categories, and ribbons were awarded last night.

The category of overall “Viewers Choice” has 3 winners — Congratulations to them all!

“Viewers Choice 1st Place” goes to Kay Mueller of Lawrence, Kansas for her quilt “Cross Kansas Trip 2016” — design is from Simply Dynamic Sampler Quilts by Marianne Hatton.  This quilt also received 1st place in the “I Did It All” category.

“Viewers Choice” 2nd Place was awarded to Sandy Meyer of Peculiar, Missouri for “Hazel’s Diary”.  The pattern is by Kansas City Star and Shelley Pagliai.

“Viewers Choice 3rd Place” went to Diann White of Belton, Missouri, for her “Can I Have Your Scraps, Please?”  using her ever-growing collection of scraps.

We’ll share more ribbon winners with you next week!

KCRQF 2019 – Participating Guild Vendors!

Two of our KCRQF 2019 Participating Guilds are working hard to bring hand crafted items to Festival for your shopping pleasure!

The Miami County Quilters’ Guild, Paola, Kansas, www.miamicountyquiltguild.com, describes what they will be offering in their boutique:

“Handmade gifts — for quilters, by quilters — project bags, show and share bags, puncushions — both practical and collectible, clocks, notion bags, organizers, journals, t-shirts and more!”

Kaw Valley Quilters Guild, Lawrence, Kansas, www.kawvalleyquiltersguild.org, is “excited to be a vendor at KCRQF 2019.  Our members have been working like crazy to fill the tables with creative, useful and one-of-a-kind items.  We have such a diverse group of artist members, and you should expect the unexpected!”

We appreciate having these two guilds participate as vendors, and hope you find shopping and visiting with them a pleasure!

Guild Opportunity Quilts

One of the great things about attending the Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival is seeing all the opportunity quilts offered by our participating guilds.  You’ll have a chance to purchase a ticket (or more) from each guild to enter in their drawings.

Here are three you will see there:

Olathe Quilters Guild Opportunity Quilt  — features all KC Star newspaper blocks from the 1920’s – 1940’s that were redrawn.  The pattern is a guild original.

Starlight Quilters Guild Opportunity Quilt — Paper pieced in all batiks by the small group known as the Rowdy Rounders, and quilted by Peggy Skaith.

Blue Valley Quilters Guild Opportunity Quilt — This quilt is an original design constructed and pieced by Ibby Rollert, Sandi Magliacano and Lynn Droege.  It was quilted by Tia Curtis.  The quilt was entered in the 2017 Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival Showcase
