C’est Parfait – “It’s all good” in Collaging!

A collage is a combination or collection of various pieces that are brought together to make something much  larger than any one item. If you are looking for a totally different quilting process and technique, add Collaging  to your repertoire! It’s fun and very freeing! There are no rules, really; it’s all good – “C’est Parfait”!

When patches of different sizes, designs & colors are placed together in layers, they come together to make an  image. Once fabrics are layered and fused, all kinds of embellishment techniques will add more dimensional  texture to any finished masterpiece.

Learn the art of collaging while making this adorable dragonfly arrangement which can be turned into an  enchanting pillow top or wall hanging . You will learn how to collage & color fabric with colored pencils. You will  also learn dimensional embellishment techniques that will add texture and character to any project: Trapunto  (stuffing), quilter’s Embroidery Stitches and simple Beadwork. Working with crystals will also be discussed.

“The road of life twists and turns and no two directions are ever the same. Yet our lessons come from the journey, not the destination”. Quilting is Cat’s chosen path through Life’s journey. She continues to learn so much along the way, not only about quilting but about Life and the many threads of truth that weave all creation together. Though accomplished in several forms of needlework, merging fabrics and threads gives her the most Joy. “As far back as I can remember, I’ve held a needle & thread in hand. I love pulling needle & thread through fabric! I get such a charge out of combining fabrics to create unique & exciting designs. I proudly proclaim: I’m a fabri-holic. I share the opinion of many quilters that, when it comes to fabric ...more is definitely MORE! About her quilt designs, Cat writes, “Through the marriage of design and color, a viewer is invited to look beyond the beauty of the overall composition; to explore the subtle nuances that lie within the quilt itself. The composition encompasses every patch, every stitch; from the center to edge. Thus, the ‘Whole’ is truly ‘Greater’ than the sum of its parts.” Cat is the sole proprietor of CatNix DeSigns. She enjoys designing quilts and fabrics (batiks) and brings her expertise to the classroom in creative ways. She is known for her patient attitude and putting her students at ease. “I hope I can encourage you to take the quilting journey and wish you piece-filled blessings along the way!” Cat resides with her family near Kansas City, Missouri.
