Sparkling Gemstone Quilt Block

Create your own sparkling gem using the same techniques that artist and designer MJ Kinman has  used to create her giant gem quilts for over 20 years.  These are a blast to put together even for the new quilt maker. This is not your typical foundation paper piecing.  Freezer paper templates are ironed to the RIGHT side, so there is no confusing reverse piecing; templates are  easily removed and REUSABLE, so there are no paper bits to pull from the back of the quilt; reduces fabric waste  since there is no flip-and-sew method used. And best of all, these patterns do not require absolute precision, so  you can relax and enjoy every aspect of making your gem. This makes wonderful Mother’s Day quilts (featuring  family birthstones), baby quilts (featuring Baby’s birthstone), birthdays, weddings, and many more. Add a little bling to your life by creating your own gemstone!

Tina Hoss

Tina is a certified Gem Affiliate with MJ Kinman. She is a longarm quilter, sewist, and nurse. She has been quilting for 6 years but, sewing for over 25 years. Her love of sewing is inspired primarily by her mother. She began sewing in high school but her love of quilting came many years later when she bought a book and taught herself how to quilt on her domestic machine. Her first longarm machine came shortly after and her passion for quilting was ignited a few years later when she attended her first quilting retreat and "found her people." That first retreat took her beyond the act of quilting and she fell in love with the community of people she now counts as her closest friends. Tina enjoys sharing her love for quilting to anyone who is interested, and a few who aren't :) She enjoys teaching others and getting new people interested in sewing, quilting, or just hanging out with quilters! She encourages you to experience the art of quilting with her and to build lasting friendships during one of her classes. After all.. .only quilters understand the act of buying a fabric bundle so beautiful you never want to take the ribbon off ... only to cut it up into tiny pieces and sew it back together again!
