“Addicted to Minis” with Donna Lynn Thomas — 9:00 to 10:30 am

Dive into the world of miniature quilts as Donna talks about the resurgent passion for small and teeny tiny quilts. Using lots of samples (and a little bit of power point) from her two books on miniature quilts, Donna will share the secrets about the challenges and joys of piecing blocks as small as 3/4” finished size. Her techniques will demonstrate just how achievable these little gems can be and challenge you to start making some treasures of your own.

Amy Barickman, founder of Indygo Junction, shares a trunk show lecture of ideas for incorporating vintage textiles, thrift shop finds and cast-offs into unique fashions…from recycling denim to embellishing with hankies. From aprons to pincushions learn how Amy curates and ideates design from the past into her modern line of products. She shares her new Fabriflair® line for dimensional paper piecing particularly as a means to preserve treasured textiles into meaningful gifts. Join the fun and be inspired from our local creative entrepreneur, Amy.

FABRIC DESIGN 101
Having designed quilting fabrics for Andover Fabrics for over 12 years, Renée will show you her process of selecting vintage patterns, modifying scale & color, determining repeat and everything it takes to produce a collection of quality quilting fabric. Renée will show you how she brings her collections to life in quilts, sharing the stories behind the collections which number close to 50 print, woven & wool fabric groups for Andover Fabrics.

Discovering Quilts with Rob Appell — 4:00 to 5:30 pm

Rob Appell is the host of “Man Sewing” on YouTube videos. He brings a fresh, young feel to his quilts. He specializes in quilted seascapes, free motion quilting and The Endangered Species Project.  Rob will bring his enthusiastic and creative energy to life while he talks about his quilts and journey as a popular YouTube host!

Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival 2019 is excited to welcome Indygo Junction as a vendor!

Amy Barickman is the founder of Indygo Junction, as well as an author and fabric designer.  Indygo Junction patterns feature designs for apparel, purses, home decor, toys and more.

Amy inspires countless crafters to explore their own creative spirit and experiment with the newest sewing, fabric and crafting techniques.  We look forward to fresh, new ideas at Festival in June!
