KCRQF 2019 — Special Collection from Jo Morton

In addition to our Guild Quilt Showcase and Judged Quilts, Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival 2019 will feature quilts from Special Collections.

We are happy to announce that one of those Special Collections will feature quilts from Jo Morton.

From Jo — “My love of antique quilts has led me into a life as an author, teacher, lecturer and designer of traditional fabric lines.

“I continue my study of our ancestral quiltmaking and create my interpretations of 19th Century quilts by imitating colors and styles from period pieces. My smaller quilt re-creations complement furnishing in country, traditional or contemporary settings. My husband says: ‘Jo took her first quilting class and hasn’t been home since.’ You may agree with Russ.

“I was introduced to quilting in 1979, took my first quilting class in early 1980 and haven’t put the needle down since. In 1982, I began teaching quiltmaking and by 1985 was creating small quilts with the charm of the antique, or my ‘new quilts with vintage charm.'”

Jo will be lending 27 quilts to KCRQF — including quilts featured in her newest book, Hearth and Home, to be released just prior to Festival.

“Brown Bayou” from Hearth and Home

Also featured will be Jo’s quilts in a book authored with Kim Diehl, Simple Friendships II.

“Gaggle of Geese” from Simple Friendships II

In addition to quilts from these books, will be some unpublished quilts and one of Jo’s “favorites” — Jo’s Floral Album.

You can find Jo’s fabric designs for Moda in quilt shops, and learn more about her on her website, www.jomortonquilts.com.

She has a loyal Facebook following at Jo Morton Stitchers and Jo Morton Quilts.

We know that you will enjoy viewing just a small portion of the work of this talented designer at KCRQF!
