Description

White Glovers act as a “host” in their row assignment to provide information on the quilts on view and monitor the safety of the quilt by offering to turn the quilt back for a better view. This role occurs during the festival hours and requires:

-monitoring the rule of no food or drinks in the Quilt Room
-work in two hour shifts mostly standing (chairs will be available)
-offer information about the Festival in general and any other assistance needed by guests

4/29/2023 – Updated with Volunteer Instructions:

Thank you for volunteering to be a White Glove at the 2023 KCRQF.  My name is Andrea Newton from the Maple Leaf Quilters’ Guild in Baldwin City, KS.  I am the White Glove Coordinator and I want to give you a few volunteering guidelines:

If on the day of your shift you have a conflict and will be late or unavailable, please contact us at volunteer@kcrqf.com.

Check-in – Please first check-in with the volunteer desk upon arrival at the festival.  After check-in, Please arrive at the White Gloves check-in table at the back of the Quilt Room 10 minutes prior to your shift to check-in, get your area assignment, gloves, and volunteer’s lanyard.

NO food or drink is allowed in the Quilt Room – While on duty if you see someone bringing food or drink into the room, remind them politely that food and/or drinks are not allowed.

Touching quilts is not allowed – Again, politely remind them that they aren’t to touch the quilts and then offer to turn back the corner of the quilt (using your white gloves) to allow them to see the back.

Checkout – Stay in your assigned area until you have been relieved by another volunteer and then check-out by returning your gloves and volunteer’s lanyard to the check-in table.

Quilt Photos – When you see someone photographing a quilt, please request that a photo of the hang tag is included to ensure that the maker is given proper credit for their work, especially if the photo will be posted on social media.

Again, thank you so much for volunteering!
