Quilt As You Go on the Long Arm
Class Details
Join Tia Curtis as she teaches you how to use your long arm quilting machine for more than just traditional quilting. Learn to piece and quilt projects all on the long arm. Totally skip the monotony of piecing at the domestic machine and do all the work in style from your long arm. You can make small quilted pieces in this manner or make enormous bed sized quilts. Tia will have a variety of samples to get your creativity simmering.
Just like with any quilt making method there are a hundred different ways to do Quilt As You Go on the Long Arm. Over the past several years Tia has been trying out several different techniques with varying success. The easiest and best looking method is to just use orphan blocks and strips of fabric in varying widths to make log cabin type blocks. The technique that was the most fun and mesmerizing for her was to just dump out pile of scraps and put them all together like a puzzle and then quilting them down.
There are two different supply lists below to accommodate different quilter personalities ("I am a Free and Easy quilter" or "I prefer order"). Think about how you function best and pack accordingly. Tia will have a couple little sewing machines set up in class incase you get stuck and absolutely must resort to old fashioned piecing before quilting down as well as a bag of her own scrap fabric incase you want to expand your collection.
