Welsh Quilting Whole Cloth
Class Details
Welsh Quilting Whole Cloth
Welsh Quilting is a style of quilting that combines linework and organic shapes to create
timeless quilting motifs. In traditional Welsh quilting complicated medallions are combined with intricately quilted borders either on whole cloth quilts or over simply pieced wool quilts. In Welsh Quilting Whole Cloth Quilts we are going to focus on designing and quilting a small whole cloth quilt. We will combine both the intricate borders and the beautiful medallion centers that make Welsh Quilting unique among all the different quilting styles. Tia Curtis will teach you how to simply mark your quilts before going to the long arm. We will then quilt your small whole cloth quilt on the longarm. Tia will show you how to break up circular designs and then fill it in with some really fun traditional designs. She will also show you how to tweak the designs to make them appropriate for the most modern quilts around today. This is a great class if you want to improve your ruler work and use minimal quilt marking. This class will also introduce you to a whole new realm of designs so it is perfect if you think your long arm quilting needs a little refresh from history. This class is taught on the longarm, but the same principles apply if you want to quilt on your domestic machine or quilt by hand. Each student will leave class with a heavily quilted class piece to refer back to as well as a handout to continue their work at home.
